Oil Coating Silicone Keypads, also known as matte smooth silicone keyboards, provide essential surface protection. This protective oil cover safeguards rubber keypad surface symbols and characters against abrasion and scratches, extending the product’s lifespan. During manufacturing, symbols and graphics are printed on the rubber keypad’s surface. Following this, a fine mist of protective oil is sprayed on, resulting in a matte and smooth texture. Oil coating is commonly applied to keypads with silkscreen printed characters and symbols, while laser-etched silicone keypads are typically PU coated. This versatile approach ensures the durability and quality of silicone keypads.

Besides oil coating, three other surface protection options exist: PU (polyurethane) coating, epoxy coating, and plastic keycaps. While oil coating is the most cost-effective, PU and epoxy coatings offer superior durability with their solid surface protection.

Both oil-coated and PU-coated silicone keypads feature matte surfaces. In contrast, epoxy-coated rubber keypads have a clear, attractive resin layer. Plastic keycaps, though effective, are pricier due to molding and labor costs.

In illuminated keypads, characters or graphics are meticulously laser etched onto the silicone button surface.
